My responsibilities include... Promoting and publicizing District 202's work to improve learning, teaching and students achievement, and its efforts to be good stewards of the community's resources through: District-level publications "The Core" newsletter District 202 Education Partner electronic newsletter  Board of Education meeting synopses Press releases District, elementary and middle school-level web sites   Managing the Connect-ED telephone recorded message system General community liaison functions Freedom of Information Act compliance Media relations Approval and distribution of external organization materials to students and staff Engaging the community in two-way communications through various opportunities   I am currently working on... Increasing/improving community outreach and liaison activities Providing more educational information about the district's finances; diversity and equity; Expanding/improving communications through new, cost-effective and efficient tools and systems Helping to create and maintain community partnerships to serve and support families impacted by the economy Expanding use of the Connect-ED telephone message system by implementing the attendance function The Director of Community Relations reports to Dr. John Harper
