| July 13, 2009 Plainfield Public Library to host pre-permit driving seminar for teens & parents Soon-to-be driving teens and their parents are invited to attend a seminar to better prepare them for the process of getting behind the wheel. The Plainfield Public Library and the American Automobile Association (AAA) are offering a "Dare to Prepare" pre-permit seminar. The presentation takes parents and teens through the steps necessary to obtain a driver's permit and license. The presentation will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009, at the library, 15025 South Illinois Street, Plainfield. It will cover state requirements for obtaining a permit and driver's license, parents' roles and responsibilities, practical tips on teaching teens to drive and state and national statistics on teen driving. The program is being offered to promote safer teen driving by increasing a younger driver's exposure to traffic safety issues, while expanding parental involvement in the learning to drive process. There is no cost to attend the program. Those interested in attending should preregister on the library's web site at www.plainfield.lib.il.us.
