| June 28, 2010 Ira Jones M.S. dean named John F. Kennedy assistant principal Richard Ira Jones Middle School Dean of Students Amandeep "AJ" Hundal will become the new assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Middle School next school year. The Board of Education on June 28, 2010 approved the new assignment for Hundal. He will replace Mark Hudson, who took a dean of students position at Plainfield High School-Central Campus. Hundal started his education career in 1997 as a lead middle school teacher at Partners for Success Alternative School in Addison. During that time he also worked as a "Teens on Campus" teacher at the College of DuPage where he taught ACT/SAT prep classes to college bound high school students; middle school math, reading, writing and study skills review classes; and 4th and 5th grade math, reading and writing classes. In 2004, Hundal became the dean of students at Partners for Success, a position he held until becoming the dean of students at Ira Jones in 2007. "I have had an opportunity to be a dean of students for several years, and I feel the added responsibilities of being an assistant principal challenges me to be an even better educator," Hundal said. "I think it's important to continue to challenge yourself and grow as a person." "AJ has significant experience working with middle school teachers and students," JFK Principal Jennifer Orlos said. "He is a resourceful and positive person who will be a great addition to the Kennedy family, where he will serve our students, teachers and parents with the utmost integrity," she said. "Being an AP gives me an opportunity to take on a bigger leadership role, and also gives me an opportunity to make connections with students, parents, and staff at a higher level," Hundal said. "I am very excited to build positive relations with students and all persons involved in making our students successful," he said. |
