123 D. 202 students named 2008-2009 Illinois State Scholars
One hundred twenty three District 202 graduating high school seniors have been named 2008-2009 Illinois State Scholars because of their superior academic potential.
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission awards the honor each year to students who rank in the upper half of their class at the end of the sixth semester, unless the student scored in the 95th percentile on a college entrance examination. Students in the latter group who have a 30 or higher on a college entrance exam can be nominated as State Scholars regardless of their class rank.
This year, 55 students from Plainfield High School -- Central Campus, 41 from Plainfield North High School and 27 from Plainfield South High School earned the prestigious recognition.
"We are very proud of all of these excellent students and congratulate them on this significant accomplishment," said District 202 Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Harper.
