District 202 kindergarten registration starts March 3, 2008; Special Saturday dates also scheduled
Open kindergarten registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be held from March 3-April 30, 2008.
Parents can register their kindergarten students at the District 202 Registrar's Office at 24101 West Fort Beggs Road. The office is located directly across from Plainfield High School -- Central Campus.
Hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday evenings from 4-8 p.m. The Registrar's Office will also be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. over spring break the week of March 24-28, 2008.
Parents can also register their kindergarten students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at three special Saturday registration dates in March and April. These special dates are arranged by district "House" assignment. District 202 groups its schools into color-coded "Houses" for logistical purposes.
Anyone may register at any of the special Saturday sessions regardless of his or her address or his or her school's "House" designation.
However, parents wanting to register kindergarten students at one of the special Saturday events are encouraged to register at the school that corresponds to their home school's "House." Kindergarten students who will attend Bess Eichelberger Elementary School may register with the Red House schools on March 15, 2008.
The special Saturday kindergarten registration dates are:
o March 15, 2008 -- Red House -- Eagle Pointe Elementary School, 24562 Norwood Lane, Plainfield (Red House elementary schools are: Creekside, Eagle Pointe, Bess Eichelberger, Freedom, Liberty, Lincoln, and Walker's Grove)
o April 12, 2008 -- Green House -- Lakewood Falls Elementary School, 14050 S. Budler Road, Plainfield (Green House elementary schools are: Central, Crystal Lawns, Grand Prairie, Lakewood Falls, and River View)
o April 26, 2008 -- Blue House -- Meadow View Elementary School, 2501 Mirage Ave., Plainfield (Blue House elementary schools are: Charles Reed, Meadow View, Ridge, Thomas Jefferson, and Wesmere)
To register their children, parents must bring:
o $63 for Kindergarten fees. Checks should be made payable to Plainfield School District 202.
o Certified birth certificate. Please bring the official birth certificate issued by the county. Wallet-size birth certificates must include the parents' names, or they will not be accepted.
o Any existing legal custody documents that pertain to the student, including divorce decrees.
o Three documents to prove residency. All registrations require these documents, even if siblings are already registered in the district.
Category I -- Provide at least one or two of the following documents:
0 Most recent real estate tax bill showing parent as the taxpayer
0 Signed lease for residence
0 Signed Settlement Statement/ Closing Statement
0 Signed Truth In Lending form from closing packet
0 Warranty Deed, from closing packet
0 Completed Student Residency Questionnaire and notarized affidavit (homeowner's proof of residency is also required.)
Category II -- Provide at least one or two of the following documents:
0 Drivers license
0 Utility bill
0 Public Aid card
0 Homeowner/ renter's insurance
0 Automobile registration
0 Other __________________________
o School physical examination and immunization records completed within 12 months of the start of the school year. While this is not required at the time of registration, according to Illinois law it must be on file with the school before the student starts school in the fall. Please schedule your appointment early, as doctors' offices get very busy during the summer months. Please call the District 202 Registrar's Office for more information at (815) 577-4080.
