Education Partners - October 29, 2009

District 202 Education Partners, hello...

This week's regular dispatch is coming a little bit early because of some logistical issues on our end. But don't fret, we still have the usual offerings of news and information about our students and schools. First, a few important notes:

  • Here are the October 26, 2009 Board of Education Meeting Notes.
  • Best luck to the Plainfield North High School football team, playing in its first-ever state game at 6 p.m. Saturday against St. Rita, at St. Rita.
  • As part of our work to improve communications, Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Harper appears twice each month on WJOL (1340 AM) to discuss important issues and information. Starting this week, we're posting audio files of his appearances on the district web site under "Messages from the Superintendent" http://www.psd202.org/Admin/harper.htm  Here is the first, from October 22, 2009 with afternoon host Isaac Sanken.
  • Speaking of Dr. Harper's communications, here is his monthly column for October 2009. This month Dr. Harper celebrates our improving high school academic achievement.
  • Kudos to Plainfield High School -- Central Campus student senior Zach Troyer who earned a trophy for the biggest upset at the "Knights of the Square Table" chess tournament" Saturday, October 24, 2009 by winning against an opponent ranked more than twice his ranking.
  • Congratulations to all the District 202 middle and high school students who earned an invitation to the Illinois Music Educators Association District IX festivals for band, orchestra and choir in November. Click here for more: http://news.psd202.org/news/display.php?newsitem=1331
