Education Partners - November 13, 2009

District 202 Education Partners, hello...

Hope you've had a productive week. Here, every week is busy, productive and filled with important news about our students, schools and district. First though, these few key notes:

  • Here are the November 9, 2009 Board of Education regular meeting notes.
  • Here too are the meeting notes from the November 12, 2009 special Board of Education meeting, regarding the work being done to eliminate the district's projected $16 million operating fund deficit.
  • Speaking of which: District 202 is already operating very efficiently and cost-effectively -- which is both good and bad. Read more about this interesting challenge here: "Good news, bad news”: District 202 is efficient, cost-effective
  • Dr. Harper appeared on WJOL radio this week with morning host Scott Slocum, to chat about the district's finances and next week's H1N1 vaccine clinic. These interviews are now posted on the district web site on Dr. Harper's "Messages" page: http://www.psd202.org/Admin/harper.htm Click here to listen in:  http://www.psd202.org/Admin/harper_radio.htm
  • The new and redesigned "Core" district newsletter will be hitting mailboxes next week, but of course, Education Partners get it first, right here: http://www.psd202.org/community/newsletters/Nov_2009.pdf
  •  Congratulations to the Plainfield South High School cross country team which finished 15th at the state meet last weekend. Individually, PSHS senior cross country runner Jake Ferris finished 16th, making him an All-State Runner for finishing in the Top 25; and Plainfield North High School junior cross country runner Andrew Sandoval finished in 98th place.
  • A reminder that the Will County Health Department will  hold its next H1N1 flu vaccine clinic from 4-10 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 at Plainfield High School-Central Campus. Please do not arrive before 3 p.m. Click here for more information: H1N1 vaccination clinic schedule
  • All of the District 202 "Red House" schools, plus John F. Kennedy Middle School, will host an Internet Safety seminar at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at PNHS.
