District 202 Education Partners, hello...
 
The end of a long week, yet the District 202 news never stops...First though a few important notes:
  • As shared yesterday, the Board of Education will meet in regular session Monday, January 25, 2010 in the auditorium (not the cafeteria, as shared yesterday). Dr. Harper will publicly present his recommendations for eliminating the district's $16 million projected operating deficit. Community members are encouraged to attend and comment, if they wish to do so. The public part of the meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. http://www.psd202.org/departments/budget_deficit.htm
  • The Will County Health Department will host its last scheduled free H1N1 clinic from 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Plainfield High School -- Central Campus. Enter through the west gymnasium doors. Click here for more: http://www.willcountyhealth.org/en/do.jsp?id=158
  • St. Mary Immaculate Parish will present a seminar entitled “Keeping Our Children Safe From Predators” at 7 p.m. January 28, 2010 in the parish Church, 15629 South Rt. 59 in Plainfield. This seminar is targeted to parents with middle school age children and older.   • Timber Ridge Middle School, in conjunction with its PTO is collecting monetary donations for the Operation Support our Troops Illinois, in memory of Private Kyle Wright, who was killed recently in Afghanistan. Kyle attended Timber Ridge. Donations will be accepted through January 28, 2010 at the school. Checks can be made out to OSOTIL and can be sent to Marianne Leahy at Timber Ridge Middle School. Budget Deficit Elimination Strategy
 
Thanks to everyone who has already shared ideas for ways to reduce the district's projected $16 million operating budget deficit. We've gotten more than 370 individual suggestions, and each of them is being shared with the superintendent and Board of Education. Finally...
The Illinois Secretary of State (ISOS) has received notification from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) that the National Computer Center (NCC) will shutdown for extensive electrical work during three holiday weekends in 2010 (Saturday at 12:01 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. Monday of the holiday).  When the NCC is shutdown, the ISOS will not have access to the Social Security On-Line Verification (SSOLV) system. Click here for more: Driver Education Facility Information.

Eagle Pointe Lunch with Tom Cross

State Representative Tom Cross ate lunch with fifth grade students in Kathleen Heinrich's class at Eagle Pointe Elementary School on January 21, 2010.

Cross was invited by a fifth grade student who wrote Cross a letter after the class read an article, “A Fresh Look at Lunch,” in the “Time For Kids” magazine.
