Education Partners - July 10, 2009

District 202 Education Partners, hello!

Hope you're having a good week, as we pass the midway point of summer break. We have our usual serving of news, posted below. But first, a few important points:

Congratulations to Liberty Elementary School Principal Ray Epperson, who was named the new principal of Plainfield North High School on July 8, 2009. Mr. Epperson topped a pool of 90 candidates for the post. See the item below for more.

Finally...

Parents of new preschoolers, kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade students, please carefully read the information below about school physicals and immunization requirements for the coming school year. This is very important.

A Connect-ED was sent last night to next year's kindergarteners, 6th and 9th grade families, and this information has been sent to the media as well. But we don't have a good way to reach prospective preschoolers. So, please share this information with families and friends whose kids may be entering preschool for the first time this fall. There are significant consequences for students if this information is not on file before the start of the new school year.

Have a great weekend...

District 202 holds second annual community wide computer sale to benefit students and staff

It\'s back by popular demand.

After hundreds lined up last year to buy gently-used computers, District 202 decided once again to hold a community wide computer sale to benefit students and staff.

The district will sell about 800 used laptops and 1,500 used desktop computers. Each comes with a mouse, monitor, keyboard and free memory upgrade. Only one laptop will be sold to each family due to the high demand for laptop computers.

The sale will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Heritage Grove Middle School, 12425 South Van Dyke Road, Plainfield. It is open to the public.

"This year\'s computer sale is an even better value than last year," District Technology Administrator Margie Bonuchi said. "Computer and memory cost is down, so we are able to sell the computers to the public for even less than last year."

Laptops will sell for $250 each and desktops will sell for $150 each. Most of the computers to be sold are under warranty. Representatives from Dell will be at the sale if customers wish to purchase extended warranties.

All items can be purchased with cash, credit or debit cards. District 202 staff has changed the checkout process from last year to better serve customers quicker and to reduce the lines at the sale.

Refreshments will also be available.

The money earned from the computer sale will be used to buy new equipment and updating older equipment to better serve district students and staff.

More information about the sale, as well as a list of Frequently Asked Questions, is available by clicking on the "District 202 Computer Sale" link on the main page of the district web site at www.psd202.org.
